|
|
Hello,
I have one problem.
Everybody who listens to our radio has this problem.
When listening to stream for a while (depends from 30 minutes to 1,5 hour) the stream stops and in winamp i get 0% buffer, and cant connect back.
I have to restart my Pc, or wait for about 5 minutes, than I can listen again.
Our Stream: http://89.212.252.62:8000/low
Please help me, this problems is killing me!
Best Regards |

The description of the problem is vague so it's hard to say what is happening but are you aware that your /low stream is 128kbit, the same as /high for instance. Are you maxing out your bandwidth?

Yes I am aware, this because we are going to aac coding, but we are still waiting for flash player to play aac stream.
We have fiber optics, so the bandwindht shouldn"t be the problem.
What should be the problem? Has anybody encoured the same problem?

Check the log files, see what is happening from the icecast point of view. If no connection comes in on a reconnect then it's either the player or the link to icecast causing the problem. You really need to give more information on what is happening.

We have checked the log file and there is no error;
Bandwidht: 50/50 - fiber optics
web: www.radiodeejay.si
Streams:
http://89.212.252.62:8000/low
/high
/deejay
We have 2 computer (1. is server and 2. broadcaster - where we have simple cast)
Server is running on linux and connect with 2.pcs simple cast.
What do you mean with the - link to icecast ?
Thank you for you help.
If you have more questions please ask. |

I haven't ruled anything out. but without finding out what is actually happening it's hard to say for sure. For all I know at the moment, you could be using a NAT that is limited. This is why you need to check the icecast logs for details and if possible do some network traces to see if reconnections are being tried.

Sorry for my late anwser.
The problem is still occurring. Now we have 2 ip adresses - 1. for local network, and 2. for server and problem stays the same.
When buffer drops ti 0% i cant connect to any of this IP. I cant connect to file server, radmin, etc.
For several minutes I cant connect to this location, and after few minutes everything is working well.
We have enough bandwidht and icecast logs show no problem - like nothing never happened. I think this is router problem.
Thank you for your anwser! |

nothing is logged? you mean the source is still connected, no timeout occurs and the stats are updated but the listening client does not get logged as disconnected. If you are saying that data is sent and acknowledged then icecast is doing what it is supposed to do, but if there is some network issue and the stream data is not acknowledged then you should get the client disconnected for being too far behind.

No icecast is working well.
What that means?
How to solve this? |

You cannot begin to address the issue unless you can say what is actually going wrong. Assuming the problem is fixing the unable to connect to icecast for a few minutes (even web pages) then you need to find out which part is failing. Do web page access on the same machine work? can you access any other services running on the same machine It does not sound like an icecast issue but maybe an issue with network cable failures or change of IP allocation. It's not possible to say from what little information is given.

If the source does not suffer any problem then you know that link is ok. If that keeps streaming but the listener has problems then say what exactly, does icecast terminate that connection or does the player disconnect itself. If as I said before, a local player on the icecast server has a problem then you can isolate the issue further. Try to pinpoint where it fails and where it is ok.

Ok, I will do that.
I have started winamp in local network, but I think it will work with no problem.
I dont think that the player shuts down itself, but can connect back on.
The thing is, that this problem doesnt occoure all listener at the same time. I thought that everybody are kicked off, but only 1 or 2.
This is really strange problem.
So if winamp in local network will work there is no problem with icecast?
