Hey everyone,

I have setup my stream and everything using SAM broadcaster and Icecast, and it seems to be working because when I go to http://locahost:8000/ it takes me to the status.xls page like it should. This is also true with my internal ip, but my external ip will not connect. It always times out. I also used a no-ip address which worked for other applications, but here it times out. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

If you cannot retrieve the xsl page from an external machine then the problem is down to the forwarding of external packets to the internal IP. This issue is different from an internal IP trying to access icecast using the external address.

Thanks I managed to fix that. Now, http://75.xx.xxx.xx:8000/ works and goes to the xsl page, but when put into a player nothing happens. No audio, no stream, nothing.

Put what into a player? "Nothing" would indicate a lack of connection, like a firewall block but you just said that the status page comes down, so your post is unclear

Sorry. I have a vBulletin forum radio that I want to work with. When I put the address in, nothing happens. No streaming nothing. Same with iTunes, it does nothing. And I know it should do something because some other people with the same format URL (http://xx.xx.xxx.xx:8000/ ) work in my forum radio and other media players.

There is still very little information to work on. Do you only have one stream, if so what is the mountpoint for it. Check the contents of the web page at http://xx.xx.xxx.xx:8000/

My mounpoint is just "/" and yes I only have one stream. When I go to the page at http://xx.xx.xxx.xx:8000 it redirects me to

http://xx.xx.xxx.xx:8000/status.xsl

which is correct. It also says:

listenurl http://xx.xx.xxx.xx:8000/ and that URL does nothing when put into an online radio or streaming program on my pc.

If you really want a mountpoint like that then you should remove the alias line in the xml that changes / to /status.xsl

will it make a difference. I dont even know what the mountpoint does.

Sometimes I can manage to get an audio stream but its like 3 seconds of nothing then it stops streaming.

a mountpoint does the same thing as a filename, it identifies the content. It will make a difference if your stream is really named /

your last statement is unclear, you cannot stream nothing, but you can stream silence or an unexpected format but nothing would mean no content therefore no data at all.

Thanks for the reply. Sometimes, even though everything seems to be working fine, nothing streams. I cant figure out the issue. My server stats are ok and it seems everything is correct, just no stream.

I don't know what you want people to say, There's no url to check, not xml and no log provided. You have presumably removed the alias and your mountpoint is named / which we can only assume is an mp3 stream. A connect works but absolutely no content is provided although nothing has been said about the headers (if any).
