When I update the metadata on an OGG mount, I see the following entry in error.log, but neither VLC nor WinAMP show the new song information anywhere:
[2009-08-29 20:29:27] INFO admin/command_metadata Metadata song on mountpoint /wnrn-64.ogg changed to "WNRN - The Localmotive"
Am I understanding this wrong? The mechanism works perfectly on MP3 mounts.

yes you are. Ogg metadata is supposed to be in-stream where as mp3 does not have that possibility and requires the admin url to set it. It's disabled in kh because of some source clients setting in-stream and admin url at the same time but if you really want it then set the mount option <allow-url-ogg-metadata> boolean.
