Hi there, I have a problem with my metadata streaming...
I use edcast which gets the metadata via url and I stream in 2 different servers, one is AAC+ which transmits the metadata fine and dandy and my second stream is MP3 in an Icecast2 server which doesn't transmit any metadata!
Why is that? Any ideas? Please help!
Regards

unless metadata updates are disbaled then no, I'm guessing the logs show the updating working but that should be showing on the players and the stats page but if neither is happening then I'd would need to see the level 4 log

I don't quite follow you <kinda newbie...sorry>...
I own an FM/Internet station, I have 3 kinds of streams over the internet. One is a WMA stream that works fine, the other one is an AAC+ via edcast which works fine and you can see the artist/title info on both Winamp (if you play a URL or in shoutcast.com) and via the exact edcast (which gets the artist/title metadata info via a url) I also stream to another server (icecast 2) which I don't see any metadata at all... And I wonder why?! If my edcast transmits the metadata fine to the ACC+ server why not to the Icecast?
I don't know what the logs you're talking about are?! I pay 2 different stream providers for this, since one is only WMA and AAC+ and the other is MP3...
I wonder if there is a simple solution to this, so maybe I can suggest it to the people who provide me the MP3 (Icecast 2) stream.
Thanx

Firstly aac server is a vague term, as icecast can stream aac. For mp3/aac streams, metadata inserts have to be requested by the listener because they break the format, so the player needs to filter them out before decoding.

First thing to do is check the status pages on icecast, even if the players are not requesting metadata, the stats will be updated provided they are being received. This is also where looking at the icecast log files can tell you so much. How do you know the metadata is not being sent by the source client to icecast without trouble, without checking the logs?
