Helloo.

I have set up a Icecast server and I'm planning to get a little hobby station up and running, one of my friends Is getting in on it as well, and we have started making some hilarious mock commercials, as we aren't going to advertise anything real but we would like some filler and humor here and there. Anyway, my friend is interested in being a DJ and I was wondering if remote DJ-ing from a diffrent computer is possible? I'm running the W32 port of Icecast, with winamp/ SAM encoders plugin. Is this possible? Maybe more software is needed to do this? Any help will be extremely appreciated. Thank you very much!

The connection between icecast and the source client is a TCP network connection so it can be remote or on the same computer.

Ok cool, is there a tutorial or documentation that you know of on how to set that up? I've been searching google but can't find anything :S

Edit: I think I figured out how to do it - in the encoder the server ip would be the computer with the icecast server on it right?

What I want to do is be able to be broadcasting live, then be able to say, now switching to DJ Bob, and switch to him without having to end the stream, have him start encoding, and listeners having to reconnect...

Now is that possible? If so, a bit of help maybe? a link?

If not, is there a way to have DJ bob control my winamp remotely? Besides something like the windows remote assistance?

I Really appreciate it, Thanks!

icecast has the ability to move listeners from one mountpoint to another, although take care that both streams are in a similar format, ie no ogg to mp3 switchover midstream and try to keep samplerate/channels the same as well.

Look into the details of fallback-mount/fallback-override or maybe you just need to explicitly move listeners when you see fit, in which case look on the /admin/stats.xsl page and you should see a link to move listeners.
