Icecast Streaming Media Server

Hello,
I currently running shoutcast servers on a Dreamhost Private Server, with no problems. Our station would like to expand into using ogg for our upcoming redesign, to take advantage of html5 audio capabilities.

Can someone walk us through building and setting up icecast on dreamhost, shoutcast is a little simpler b/c its just a executable.

We can't use apt-get or aptitude. Seems that we can run programs, and build them, but we do not have the expertise at doing so.

I'm a big dummy.. I didn't realize that Dreamhost now offers a Root account.. so after setting that up, I did

nvrmnd.. I got it working.. looks good.. was not hard, after reading the docs a little bit, and writing a new configuration xml..

used this little article to add the icecast into the shoutcast encoder chain to save on out going bandwidth from our studio..

so its basically setup like..

source (Studio) -> icecast2 (OGG) -> shoutcast (MP3)

or when we have On-Location broadcasts

Shoutcast (mp3 Stage Relay) -> source (Studio) -> icecast2 (OGG) -> Shoutcast (MP3)

we use a seprate staging relay to cue on-location broadcasts before injecting them into the main stream.
