Icecast Streaming Media Server

Hi Guys. On our radiostation we use the following config: icecast win32 (latest version) + 5 instances of SAM broadcaster with 3 encoders on each. So we send 15 mp3 streams to icecast. Summary we have ~400-500 listeners online and all was fine untill last month, when icecast started to crashing and freezing. At random moment it started eating 60% of CPU (core2duo 2GHz), working VERY slow (minute or two to connect to the stream), and than it just stops responding. It all was with GUI version.

After that, we've installed icecast as a service, but troubles doesn't go. Now it doesn't eat all CPU time, but just stops responding. Service is running, but actually server doesn't work. This is happens at random moment. It can work 2 or 3 days without any troubles, but then can crash every 2-3 hours.

What is it? And how we can fix it? It's very strange, because we use this config for more than year and all was great.

Sounds like the same issue I have with winamp when my log files get too large. I would clear logs and try again. Maybe set log files to 1?

Also did you install the new SAM patch? a lot of people have complained about it causing issues (cant remember them off the top of my head) I would look into this, compare time frames of patch to error if you installed this.

I use SAM 4.2.2 without any patches. The most stable version so far
Logs are really very big, but they always was... Anyway, will try to set level to 1, thanks for advice.

Any other ideas?

Again, just refresh your logs, this would be the big focus.

Set log level to 1, deleted old logs. Will see how it will work.

Ok, Wierd. It seems you had a packet loss running to the server. You said you use Icecast as Local host in another thread correct? Usually at this point I would recommend running WinMTR from sourceforge, and seeing if you have any hops that pings at 300 ms or greater otherwise. set it for 50-100 iterations.

I didnt ask what OS. In case you have to run it from command line:

do the following command: ping ( the address of your broadcast server)
300ms or less is what your looking for. I just find it wierd. I could have sworn earlier you said you run localhost.

I really use localhost, so packet loss is impossible..
Things are going very bad, we loosing our listeners due this fails =/

Ok, i found the following error in error log:

Seems like huge memory leak. It's now working for 25 minutes and already ate 280 MBs and this amount is growing every second.
