metadata updates do go through stats connection so even an inactive relay could get title updates. It's just a question of hooking that link up.

I've been giving this ODR redirect thing a bit of thought and was wondering if perhaps a good way to handle redirect decision would be to have slaves report some sort of a load metric after they get the master list, if redirect is indeed true.

That way, the master could redirect slaves to the server with the lowest load.

My head isn't in a math mode at the moment, so I can't suggest an algorithm at the moment to arrive at the load number.

some sort of feedback to the master would be required for that. it could be done via the stats engine if the polling is not longer done.
