Running Icecast 2.3.2-kh27.1 as a service on Windows 2003 Server. This morning the service just stopped for no apparent reason. I was able to restart it with no problem. The last error log entry before that happened was :
[2010-10-31 08:02:43] WARN format-mp3/ no frames processed for /2ngtest.

Any idea why this happened and how it can be prevented in the future?

no frames is an odd one. would tend to indicate something very weird on the stream like an input change or a fallback switch over at a very particular point (what codec settings are on that mountpoint?)

If the service stopped completely then that would indicate a lock mismatch. It really depends on how much actually stopped working so the log file would be helpful there.

Found an interesting, but generic, entry in the Windows event log. It logged the following error at 08:02:54, 9 seconds after the Icecast log entry:
The Icecast 2.3.2-kh27.1 Streaming Media Server service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s).

Additional information: This particular stream is a relay of a 64k AAC+ stream from a Shoutcast server.

It happened again. Also the same "no frames processed" error message was the last log entry.

I don't see the actual no frames case causing a crash but I have spotted a few other cases that may cause one if certain situations occur. I've uploaded an update to try out

OK, thanks. I will install the update this evening. If it makes any difference that particular mount relays a Shoutcast stream.

kh27.4 doesn't seem to work. It just plays a split second of audio and that's it.

I'll have to reinstall it tonight so I can get that log level info for you. By "xml" do you mean the icecast.xml file?
