Can anyone tell me how to send metadata to an Ogg Vorbis stream? We use Nex Gen automation system and the Simplecast encoder. I haven't been able to get them to interface with each other to make it happen and I am wondering if someone knows another way. If nothing else, it would be nice to find an Icecast streaming provider out there that is helpful with such matters. We have other Icecast (AAC and AAC+) streams that have metadata support. Is there a way to relay metadata from one of them to the Ogg Vorbis stream?

Are your other Icecast streams coming from Nex Gen as well? Is Simplecast being used with them also?

Nex Gen, yes, but we use the Orban encoders for the AAC and AAC+ and it has a metadata workaround, but it does not encode Ogg Vorbis streams.

I'll see if I can find myself a demonstration version of Nex Gen so I can take a look - it's my goal to support receiving metadata from as many pieces of radio automation software possible.

Just starting out as one, yeah.
I'm in the middle of developing a panel to show listener stats, pre-feed advertising, etc. to my present clients, so I don't yet have a website to show you unfortunately.
duncan@hotdogradio.com - if you have any questions. |

Just thinking about the metadata and looking at your guys conversation its incredible what kind of capability steaming this data could serve in business. Being able to associate tags, etc is a genius idea for the workplace. I know that when you use a video converter that you have the option to save metadata when the conversion is finished.
