Icecast Streaming Media Server

Whenever our ethernet here goes down for some reason the icecast disconnect. I wanna find a way for it to reconnect automaticaly when the net comes up again. Some kind of system that monitors the connection and activate Icecast when its responding "ok". I saw something some days ago in this forum about how to do it with Relay and Fallback but I cant find it anymore. Can anyone help here? I`ve got to make this thing work as fast as I can, a public radio station is depending on it.

The relays will be rechecked every <master-update-interval> seconds, you could trigger an early recheck by sending the HUP signal but you need to use something to check when the source of the relay is accessible again.

It will recheck the master`s streams but it won`t reconnect, right? Then someone would have to be there to click the connect button. That`s no good cause if it fails in like a sunday morning for example it will probably be off until monday. I found the post about the fallback but it didn`t help. It says something about fallbacking to another fallback: " If the icecast is remote what you can do is run a local icecast which relays the stream but has a fallback to a fallback to either file or backup stream. That way the xmms is always connected locally and the relay can do a fallback-override when it comes back on line again. "
How can I do that? Should I give a MP3 file path in the fallback so that it just plays the backup media until the server comes up again?

any inactive relays will try to reconnect after the next update, unless they are configured as on-demand relays, in which case they won't reconnect until a listener connects.

Sorry, I didn`t expressed myself right. My problem is the following:
If, for some reason, the connection goes down between the server and the client (witch is the Radio physical station, the antena), I want the listeners not to notice it. Ì wanna have the system playing a backup file until the connection comes up again. Thanks a lot. I`ve installed Icecast in the client with a relay to the server and a fallback to the file. Is it enought? How can I make the fallback work with the file? Will I have to set my soundcard to keep on playing and streaming the file constantly or can I just select a file in the XML configuration?

You can fallback to a file to a file what resides in webroot, but be aware that file transfers are not timed so the connection to the listener can be rather quick if they are not timed either (eg relay). You can as always fallback to another stream which is timed.

I`ve gotta have a stream generated in the client but it has already a Winamp playing the playlist of the radio. How can I have another stream (made from MP3s files) with only one soundboard and one computer.

I'm not sure with winamp, isn't there a null output plugin you can use for the fallback stream?

I thing it has. Gonna try it. I don`t know if I can open both the stream and the backup at the same time. But I found a "not elegant" solution by having some backup songs and Teasers on the winamp playlist. That means that the problem isn`t urgent anymore. Thanks again.
