Hello,

I'm really interested in icecast's relaying features...

I'm wondering if it would be possible to essentially create (using icecast) a load-balancing server relay... where essentially one would setup a group of people to be 'hosts', all chained to each other with a live stream going to the next, but serving out live streams to people who wish to listen in as well. If one host is full, the listener is redirected to the next host, and so on...

Basically what I'm asking is load-balancing a live stream with multiple hosts possible with icecast?

Thanks for your input,

ToP

One thing I'm trying out in the -kh branch is listener redirection. It works based on the idea of if max-listeners is reached then a new listener can be redirected to a slave icecast that has registered with this icecast. Each icecast still only has 1 master server but many slaves can register with it and your relays can be on-demand.
