Icecast Streaming Media Server

Hi,

I am a new here, i have a webradio on live365 i pay expensive but they don't even give me the right to post a button directly on my own website (i sell ad for them to my listeners), plus i can't even stream video or swf.

So i think Icecast could be a great tool for my webradio. The problem so far i can't find any documentation to get started.

Can anyone here take their time to wrap up a bit what the pig picture is, how things work with icecast, where to start from, how to install and costumize the stream?

Will i have to stream directly from my PC or i can load files to a server? You know the basics.
