Icecast Streaming Media Server

My issue is in configuring a static audio file directory/directories to be used in delivering audio streams rather than duplicating all the static audio files residing in other folders into the Icecast2 Win32\web folder.

I use a Win web server machine, and the Windows/IIS webserver path set at:
C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\
with weebsites containing audio files set as:
C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\site1\audio\<audiofiles>.<mp3/ogg extension>


The unofficial 'howto' documentation doesn't help much since the documentation for Win 32 settings is sparse; in addition, the 'official' documentation does not mention how to configure absolute paths for audio content folders under Win systems.

The 'unofficial' howto section 8.1.1. An Example icecast.xml File has a customized icecast.xml file with explanations. It contains a section for path settings (8.1.5. Path Settings) with his use of a custom path (>/usr/local/icecast2) but the explanation on setting the basedir and subsequent paths relative to the basedir indicates this isn't supported for Win32:

basedir
Used in conjunction with the chroot settings; it specifies the chrooted base directory when the server starts. This feature is not supported on win32 releases.

Searching his document I did find something that might work if implemented, but it was in a section referencing older Icecast releases--
in 5.3. Editing the Icecast Configuration File (http://www.gnuware.com/icecast/chap_05_03.html) he references a file called icecast.config (with line items *not* in xml format) that contains an example item: staticdir c:\windows\desktop

His writeup states:

5.3.1.14. Static File Directory
This enables HTTP file streaming support in icecast. If you don't want to go through the trouble of setting up apache or the web server of your choice, you can simply specify a directory here, and then your static file located at http://your_server:port/file/file.mp3 will be equivalent to the value /staticdir/file.mp3.

HTTP server support is very limited so do not attempt to do anything fancy until you have tested your configuration. Only .mp3 files will be displayed.

staticdir
Specify the local directory from which to stream static audio files. If streaming live audio or if raw audio is being piped into your soundcard, set this directory to /tmp.

By the description, this item sounds like it's what I need to configure--but I see no reference to it in the 'official' Icecast 2.3.1 documentation.

If adding this 'static directory' entry is not supported under Icecast 2.3.1, what is the proper path format to reassign the web folder path from the Icecast path to the IIS webroot path--or is this not possible for Win32 configurations? (I'm supporting a Win/IIS LAN/intranet and don't have the option to go with a *nix machine and chmod....)

The absolute paths are:
C:\Program Files\Icecast2 Win32\web\
and
C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\

(Since I have multiple websites set up, I would be able to set the individual training audio directory paths once I can get Icecast2 to 'find' the Inetpub\wwwroot\ folder instead of looking in the Icecast2 Win32\web\ folder... I really need this since the responsibility to provide the audio files is 'owned' by other company groups--I have to pull files from 'their' web directory folders--or else duplicate all the file content into the Icecast web folder, and risk setting off company 'turf' battles over authority and areas of control and responsibilty for checking multiple locations for any new or updated audio files!!!)

Thanks in advance for any advice--and/or putting in a 'feature' request for the next update version if it can't be done with my Icecast 2.3.1 version!
