I am a newbie to icecast. I am trying to streaming one of my songs to icecast. The bitrate is 32k. But it turns out that the listener need to buffer like for ever to get the stream.

I am wondering if there is a limit on the bitrate of source client. If so, what is the limit.

All my configure are by default.

Thanks

Had to check on m3w, it looks to be a source client. Icecast doesn't impose any bitrate limits but without a url or information about the player it's hard to guess. I would check if you are using VBR for your mp3 as that tends to fail with some apps like WMP.

oh, Is there any limitations that the bandwidth of the stream server.

I use my laptop and desktop to test. My laptop worked as a stream server. and I recorded my songs using my laptop while listening to it using my desktop. The network is a Lan.

The player i used to listen to the stream was Windows Media player 10. Are you suggesting that i use winamp or some other app?

The bandwidth limitation (if an issue) will be your network link. I would suggest you try different players like winamp to make sure of issues with a player. Most players have some quirks/bugs and WMP is no exception. A common problem with WMP is VBR mp3 streams don't work while VBR file files do.
