Icecast Streaming Media Server

I am trying to install my ices2 server on a fedora 4 box from source. Everything goes to plan until I try and listen in to my stream. It says in the player that everything is ok and it is recieving song data but nothing comes out. I can clearly hear the signal coming out of the server's speakers. It is like there is no volume. I try to record the stream locally through one of KDE's helpful sound tools, KRec, but i end up with no sound anyway. All my levels on aumix are up all the way but the levels on KRec remain at zero. What is going wrong?

The most likely cause , not capturing what you want. There should be something like record or capture in your mixer. The actual settings vary between drivers but you probably want to enable the alsa mix setting.
