Hello all,
I finaly made Liveice and Icecast to stream Mp3 on my radio. It`s working fine now but I need to write some scripts to autostart Icecast and Liveice when the system starts. For Icecast I already have one that runs every 5 secs checking if the server is ok. For Liveice I just can`t make it work. I`ve tried a single line script: ./liveice. Here is the output:

Stream:/home/icecast/liveice# ./script
playlist
0
Initialising Soundcard
16Bit 44100Hz Stereo
opening connection to localhost 8000
Attempting to Contact Server
connection successful: forking process
opening pipe!...
writing password
Setting up Interface

And it stops right here...
If I try ./liveice it works perfectly...
How is that explained?

Thanks

First make sure everything is working manually.

Then it should be as simple as adding those same commands you used to start icecast and liveice to your startup script.

I'm running Linux Slackware, so for me, that meant editing /etc/rc.d/rc.local

Add a line for each command, and be sure to add an ampersand at the end. (Shift + 7).

My rc.local file looks like this.

# Restore known input recording levels
alsactl restore

# Start IceCast Server
/usr/local/bin/icecast -c /usr/local/icecast/live.xml &

# Start LiveIce Client
/usr/local/bin/liveice &

(I made that up, so paths and configuration files may not be exact. I don't have access to my Icecast box at the moment to copy and paste the actual file, but you get the idea.)
