|

I'm having a problem where the stream playback will stop after most songs when they finish. I had this problem on my old server, and just recently moved to a fresh server, did a new install of ices/icecast and its happening again, so it's got to be a problem with how I'm setting it up.
Icecast correctly transitions to the new song, but any client connected to it will actually just stop, forcing you to have to reload the stream to resume playback. Anyone else ever have this problem, or know how to go about solving it? Reproduced this in Winamp, WMP, iTunes, and some other players. For whatever reason, it never seems to happen in foobar, but I can't force clients to use that
I'm running Ices 0.4. All mp3 files are local to the icecast server as well, so that shouldn't be the issue. Thanks! |

sounds like your mp3 files have different settings. eg the first is 44100 stereo and the second is 22050 mono. A common misconception is that many of the popular players know how to handle changes like that.

That's quite possible, as I wasn't responsible for the encoding of a majority of these files. I'll definitely look into that and post back here with the results. Thanks! |

Update: This seems to have been the problem after all. I wish I'd posted about it here a long time ago! Converted the library to all be the same bitrate and sample rate and it works as smooth as can be. Thanks for the help, and hopefully this helps someone else having the same problems. |
