Hey guys,

we have a very big problem concering our online radio.

To make connection to the Sources very simple, we use a Shoutcast-Server.
The IceCast-Server relays this Shoutcast-Source and 2 Streamtranscoder devide the stream into High-Quality (DSL) and Low Quality Streams and sends them back to two Different Shoutcasts.

Shout -> IceCast -> TransA -> ShoutA
\
->Trans B -> ShoutB

Also we uses the IceCast to play a different Source (Playlist) if the Shoutcast-Source isn't avaliable (no dj online.)

Our problem is, that we hear, since the Streamtranscoders were installed, a crackle on air. (mostly by high bass levels [HipHop])

We don't know were's the problem.

Can YOU help me? Wink

thanx a lot...

greetz & stay tuned,
dj virus

maybe your server isnt powerfull enought to transcode the streams.
to which formats do you transcode(mp3/ogg-v)? maybe you should try to change the config of streamtranscoder or try it with another server

Why not use just 1 streamtranscoder to serve people with for example 32kbps AAC+v2 stream? It is high enough quality for many radios and also low bandwidth.
Or use one for example 16kbps and another 48kbs (almost equivalent to 192kbps mp3)?
