Halooo... i'm new here

i want ask about icecast server, i install icecast for LAN

1. can icecast play a song with out ices2 or ices0 ?
2. i was try with ices2..and it was success, but i little confusion why in the ices-playlist.xml, the hostname must be the client IP ?
3. how to configure the icecast / ices2? so it can be access more then 1 client ?

icecast can server files on-demand like a web server does, but you need a source client of some sort to stream a series of files or live content.

for ices2, the hostname is the hostname where the icecast server is, which may be on the same machine but is not required to be.

the source clients, including ices2, are not concerned with listeners, as that is the job of icecast. The source client just deals with creating the stream. Icecast deals with multiple listeners on to a mountpoint.
