Yes I've searched on here and on google.. nothing..
My icecast is installed at /root/icecast-2.3.1
My xml file is /root/icecast-2.3.1/conf/icecast.xml.in
My log directory is /usr/local/share/icecast/log
the log directory has chmod 777 permissions
However no matter what user I use, I continue to get the dreaded you should not start icecast2 with root message. Here's my XML

I run the following command from /root/icecast-2-3.1/conf as root
icecast -c icecast.xml.in
and I get this
root@myserver [~/icecast-2.3.1/conf]# icecast -c icecast.xml.in
Changed root successfully to "/usr/local/share/icecast".
ERROR: You should not run icecast2 as root
Use the changeowner directive in the config file
root@myserver [~/icecast-2.3.1/conf]#
This happens for any user I put in the changeowner directive, even a bogus user.
Any ideas? |

it doesn't matter what username you put in for the changeowner if you have it commented out <!-- ignored -->
Icecast is being run as root and you are not changing ownership, therefore error message is shown.
