hi everybody,

i hope someone can help me, i dont even know if thats possible though...

i want to use icecast to stream from 2 sources simultanously. it works perfect if one streams and another one takes over with the fallback option but that is not what i was searching for. ive already searched here but couldnt find a good answer.

is it possible that 2 ppl stream at once?

Please clarify precisely what you are looking for:

I *think* what you mean is, you want to be able to take two seperate audio sources (like two cd's, or a cd and a microphone, etc.) and then turn them into one single Icecast mount / broadcast.

In this case there are client-specific plugins (crossfaders, mixers, etc) and/or even hardware-based stuff you can use - instead of tackling it from the server end, which from your post, it looks like you are trying.

Tell us a little more about your specific setup, what the two sources are (files? live inputs? cd's? winamp and plugin? etc) and that will help clarify the correct answer, I think.

sorry, my english isnt very good, probably was a bit unclear.

ok, i have 2 sources, a friend mixing live and streaming that to my server and me mixing here. it should work like i do one song, he does the next one and so on.

we both are using a mixer which is connected to line in. both are streaming that with oddcast standalone to the icecast server.

i thought about mixing the 2 streams with e.g. traktor but i dont know how to play streams there or if that is even possible. easiest way would be if 2 sources could stream at once to one mountpoint.

No problem It makes a little more sense now.

The easiest way to handle this, I think, is a combination of server-side and mixer-side.

If you are running the Icecast server, why don't you:

a) create a new mountpoint (/friend) for your friend to log in and stream his music to.

b) fire up another computer (or winamp instance or whatever) that listens to /friend, and then patch this computer's audio output into your mixer as another input. So your friend's stream is now coming into your mixer.

c) You then control his input, and yours, through the mixer - and your mixer's output just goes to the usual Icecast mountpoint (/broadcast)

... this way a) your friend can still keep using oddcast as the client, on the same server and b) you have total control from the mixer

You will want to adjust the burst to make sure there's as little delay as possible from your friend's stream, too.

Kind of hack-ish, but may be the easiest.

yes, thats probably the easiest way, but i only have a 2 channel mixer...

thats why i mentioned traktor, im just searching for a software which can mix streams i think.

hope somebody has an idea. thanks for the help until now bhance.
