Hello,
I have been using Shoutcast to play music over a local LAN. I use a shoutcast source and shoutcast DNAS server.
I am a new user of icecast. Ices source didn't have a GUI so i used the shoutcast source. I configured Icecast server to take input strem from shoutcast client. Earlier with shoutcast the playlist name used to be like
http://pgp-05-060:8000/listen.pls
when i use the icecast server, the icecast window shows the listen url is
http://pgp-05-060:8000/stream
of which the machine name and port number comes from the shoutcast client running on winamp.
on the remote machine i am not sure what url should be added in the winamp to make it run. the icecast listen url is not working as such. so the question is:
1. does the url need to be changed in some way
2. is there any authentication needed.
3. any specific entries needed in the config file
please help me with the same.
thanks, |

Usually, a playlist or sream information comes in one of the standard formats: pls or m3u. Icecast streams use the second, so, your listening clients should use the following format:
http://server.ip:port/stream_name.m3u
In your case, listeners must use
http://pgp-05-060:8000/stream.m3u
providing in your icecast.xml, your mountpoint is declared as /stream.
Default icecast.xml allows anonymous client (no authentication). However, you should look at the source password in icecast.xml and replace the hackme default by whatever source password you like. _________________ Epsilon Friends Radio Icecast Radio on CentovaCast admin panel. Icecast hosting |
