Hi,

I need to count how many listeners have connected to any of my publishing points. I could do it through authentication (and some sql) (<option name="listener_add" value="http://myauthserver.com/listener_joined.php"/>). But I dont want to present the listener with username/pass dialog.

Is there a way do achieve everything that url auth does, but without actually asking for username/pass?

Or is there some other way?

just create a php-script like this

Code:

<?php
header ("icecast-auth-user: 1");

// some code for analytics

?>

yes, i did exactly like that. what it does, it asks first for username:password and then passess them on via post to your script. So what now happens is, that every username:pass combo is authenticated. But i want to get through without ever presenting the username:pass dialog to user.

Ofcourse I searched first.

and client I tested with is latest winamp. The user:pass dialog pops up before any request to auth script is done.

what i need is to count how many listeners have started the stream during the day - need the info for authors rights etc. I'm generating other graphs fine - current listeners, bandwith (using mrtg).

Basicaly i need what we have for server:
--
client-connections
Client connections are basically anything that is not a source connection. These include listeners (not concurrent, but cumulative), any admin function accesses, and any static content (file serving) accesses.
--
but for mountpoint.

no it doesnt. i know fairly fell how to code and parse...

but there isnt a thing to parse. current statistcs dont include cumulative (meaning that for example /energy.ogg had yesterday 20 000 listeners, max simultaneous was 1500) listeners per mountpoint. We have cumulative for server, but i need it for every mountpoint. If i cant get it somehow, i can't make reports to authors org, which makes icecast unusable for me...

A per-mountpoint listener_connections stat is in my branch currently and in my queue for merging into trunk.

It should be a solution behind a bash script.

Indeed, you have to scan your /etc/icecast/icecast.log to find the maximum number of connected clients in a range of date and for each mountpoint you have.

Something like this script should be a good start : http://icecast.imux.net/viewtopic.php?t=3933

but you have to modify the fact that you have to specify a range of date and have to scan the entire log file instead of the tail -n100 (last 100 lines)

Tell me for more explaination or more help. (don't want to work for nothing, just to help you better Smile )
