|
|
I hope there is somebody here that can hint me in the right direction. I have tried to install ices, but the process keeps failing because it does not find nessesary lib's. Problem is I think the libs are there. Something basic seems wrong. This is how it goes:
1) ices NOT available as debian package.
2) download: http://downloads.us.xiph.org/releases/ices/ices-0.4.tar.gz
3) unpack to /etc/icecast2client-ices
4) Begin installation. Run /etc/icecast2client-ices/config
5) Fails with message: configure: error: Could not find a usable libshout
6) Check /etc/icecast2client-ices/config.log, find messages:
........ checking for pkg-config... no
........ checking for shout-config... no
7) apt-get install pkg-config
8) Rerun /etc/icecast2client-ices/config
9) Fails with messages:
........ configure: /usr/bin/pkg-config couldn't find libshout. Try adjusting PKG_CONFIG_PATH.
........ checking for shout-config... no
........ configure: error: Could not find a usable libshout
10) Play with pkg-config: pkg-config --modversion libshout
11) Error: Package libshout was not found in the pkg-config search path. Perhaps you should add the directory containing `libshout.pc' to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable No package 'libshout' found
12) Investigate libshout
........ www:/etc/icecast2lib# slocate libshout.pc
........ www:/etc/icecast2lib# slocate libshout
........ /var/cache/apt/archives/libshout3_2.2.2-1_i386.deb
........ /var/lib/dpkg/info/libshout3.list
........ /var/lib/dpkg/info/libshout3.shlibs
........ /var/lib/dpkg/info/libshout3.postrm
........ /var/lib/dpkg/info/libshout3.postinst
........ /var/lib/dpkg/info/libshout3.md5sums
........ /usr/share/doc/libshout3
........ /usr/share/doc/libshout3/copyright
........ /usr/share/doc/libshout3/NEWS.gz
........ /usr/share/doc/libshout3/buildinfo.gz
........ /usr/share/doc/libshout3/README
........ /usr/share/doc/libshout3/changelog.Debian.gz
........ /usr/lib/libshout.so.3.2.0
........ /usr/lib/libshout.so.3
13) Doubt it, but lets try installing libshout.
14) Download http://downloads.us.xiph.org/releases/libshout/libshout-2.2.2.tar.gz
15) Unpack to /etc/ices2lib
16) Run /etc/ices2lib/configure
17) Ends with error:
........ checking for libogg... not found
........ checking for VORBIS... checking for libvorbis... not found
........ configure: error: requisite Ogg Vorbis library not found
18) Check apt-get install libogg0 libvorbis0a
........ libogg0 is already the newest version.
........ libvorbis0a is already the newest version.
OK I don't buy this. Brand new standard intsllation of Debian etch. Done nothing with it. I hav tried on another machine anw with other clients (ices2, ezstream, icegenerator) with the same result. |

You'll have trouble finding a prebuilt package of ices 0.4 due to mp3 license issues. You can build from source but as you have mentioned, you need to libshout and it's dependancies to which should not be difficult to build.
Note that you may of installed the runtime of say libvorbis but the parts required for building from source are often in a seperate package (eg libvorbis-dev)

If this can help, there is a french titorial about installing ices0 on a debian distribution at Lea Linux.
Here is a reduced instruction set with main steps.
- apt-get install libshout3-dev to install libshout and development package, with dependencies
- edit your /etc/apt/sources.list and add the following repo: deb ftp://ftp.nerim.net/debian-marillat/ etch main
- apt-get install liblame-dev for liblame installation
- apt-get install libxml-dev for libxml
Now, you can install ices0. In a directory, somewhere:
| Code: |
wget http://downloads.us.xiph.org/releases/ices/ices-0.4.tar.gz
tar xvzf ices-0.4.tar.gz
cd ices-0.4
./configure --with-lame
make
su - c make install |

This looks absolutely wonderfull! However....
I will try to sort this out, not the first tim I have version problems like this and I do need to lear what to do about it. But if someone just happens to have the answer...
| Code: |
www:~# apt-get install libshout3-dev
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming.
Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that the package is simply not installable and a bug report against that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libshout3-dev: Depends: libspeex-dev but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages
www:~# apt-get install libspeex-dev
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done

Sounds there is something wrong with a repository as
| Code: |
| libspeex-dev: Depends: libspeex1 (= 1.1.12-2) but 1.1.12-3 is to be installed |
Means repos currently provide you a libspeex-1.1.12-3 while dev package is still 1.1.12-2 build. _________________ Epsilon Friends Radio Icecast Radio on CentovaCast admin panel. Icecast hosting |

Yes, bad sources.list file.
ftp://ftp.nerim.net/debian-marillat/ appears to be down. Used
deb http://www.debian-multimedia.org sid main as an alternative (found on rarewares.org)
I am through with make and all seems allright. Speeding ahead with the ices configuration.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! |
