Icecast Streaming Media Server

Ok... i have tryied SC for a while and like to use IceCast now.. but :

it is quite hard to configure .. installation is easy, but after that part confusion grows..

I was looking for a HOWTO, only on i found was some howto's on frontsection and then this unofficial howto.

now i have to ask.. is there a n00b -how to , just make this work...

all of these are very fine artwork, but they go so deep that i can understand how - what where who or why... You know - you all advance users - that n00b's like me need simple words and phrases.

So please --- point me to a direction ... where i find a n00b-level how to for Icecast server. or .. maybe, you can help out ??

my set up is like this..

i have a AMD64 ( Kubuntu Feisty ) that should be the server , an i would listen the stream with my XMMS - player. Ports are open... but when i start icecast from init.d , i can browse to myip:8000/admin.

sometimes i need a password to access admin.. cant make it right.. sometimes it goes there and i see adminview.

but i cant manage anything there.. ie addusers or make mounts... so on.

If i type in konsole icecast -c /etc/icecast/icecast.conf
i see lot of text scrolling up ... and last line says something about exiting.


The sender is a program in another pc, that can send sc ok.. but ice wont work ( until your help ... ??)

There are some Icecast settings in this end ..

mount

so ... what to do ???
i was following also so advice what was in this admin view.. but cant make int work.
