Hi,

When trying to start Ices I'm getting the following error:

[root@supercreep icecast]# service ices restart
Stopping ices service..............................................[ DIED ]
Starting ices service..............................................ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:1357:(_snd_pcm_hw_open) Invalid value for card
[root@supercreep icecast]#

My config:

<input>
<module>alsa</module>
<param name="rate">44100</param>
<param name="channels">2</param>
<param name="device">hw:0,0</param>
<!-- Read metadata (from stdin by default, or -->
<!-- filename defined below (if the latter, only on SIGUSR1) -->
<param name="metadata">1</param>
<param name="metadatafilename">test</param>
</input>

Any hints?

Thanks,
Jakub

Hey,

No - it doesn't work - where can I find bit more on virtual devices?
Only doc I;'ve found was inputs.html from Ices package.
Or by virtual device you mean 0,0? I've tried values 0,[0-4] and it didn't work.

Thanks,
Jakub

Look at the alsa docs on dmix/dsnoop for virtual interfaces. The error message is from alsa lib, not ices and doesn't seem that clear. It could just be that a 44100 samplerate is not possible, for such cases 48000 may be required. Check with arecord as well, that will prove whether capture is working with the settings provided.
